Under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, on May 11, 2024, the City of Velika Gorica has organized the event AIRVG 2024 – Aviation Day in Velika Gorica, an aviation event that was held at the International Dr. Franjo Tuđman Airport in the area of the so-called of the old terminal.
The aim of this event was to promote aviation in Croatia and Velika Gorica as the “Aviation City”, and the emphasis of this year’s edition was on the modernization of aviation and the promotion of calls for military pilots, aviation technicians and other professions in air transport.
With this organization, the City of Velika Gorica continues the “Aviation City” project, as part of which a “Charter of Friendship” was signed between the City of Velika Gorica and entities from the aviation industry operating in the area of Velika Gorica. The signatories are the Croatian Air Force, Zagreb International Airport, Croatian Air Navigation Control, Zagreb Airport, Aviation Technical Center Velika Gorica, Croatia Airlines, Trade Air, Aviation Technical School “Rudolf Perešin”, Polytechnic Velika Gorica, Aeroclub Velika Gorica and Velika Gorica Tourist Board.
Aviation Day was held in Velika Gorica on Saturday. The third air show AIRVG 2024 attracted the attention of numerous curious and aviation enthusiasts who came to Velika Gorica from various parts of Croatia and beyond. Among them are 700 aviation photographers from 25 countries of the world.
The Velika Gorica air show was held at the old terminal of Dr. Franjo Tuđman Airport, with a perfect organization it opened its doors at noon. From the very beginning, visitors arrived in large numbers and enjoyed everything that the air show had to offer.
Visitors to the air show has familiarized themselves with the work of the Aviation Technical Center and the Aviation Technical School operating in the Velika Gorica area. It was their stands that attracted a large number of visitors of all age groups, and some of the contents they presented attracted the youngest ones.
The afternoon hours were reserved for the flight program, which began a 3 P.M. with an aerobatic flight of the Storm Wings, followed by a demo program of the Zlikn 242L aircraft, after which the helicopters performed a simulation of pilot rescue from enemy territory. Then Mig 21 and Rafale took off together. And finally, there was a demo program and an attractive greeting from Krila Oluja.

The image of Velika Gorica traveled around the world. Many airplane enthusiasts came with their children to enjoy the flight program and also to see the airplanes. Particularly attractive was the possibility of entering the MIG, for which citizens waited patiently in line. After this successful event, the organization of the next air show will surely follow soon.
