Atlas Air takes delivery of third 777F for MSC

Atlas Air, today announced it has taken delivery of a Boeing 777 Freighter, which it will operate on behalf of its customer MSC Mediterranean Shipping.

Atlas Air, a New York based carrier, as taken delivery of its third of four Boeing 777 Freighters placed on long-term aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance agreements with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. With the fourth aircraft due to be delivered in December, MSC will boost existing weekly cargo flights and add a route from Hong Kong to Dallas-Fort Worth using the new jet.

The type is powered by a pair of General Electric GE90 engines, which Boeing has called ”the world’s most powerful commercial jet engine”. The aircraft can fly a full payload up to 4,880nm (9,038km), giving it the longest range of any cargo-carrying twinjet in operation.

Atlas Air currently has eight 737-800Fs, 52 747Fs, 22 767Fs and four 777Fs in its active fleet, including those in service with other airlines like Amazon Prime Air.

Atlas Air operates the B747-400LCF Dreamlifter, used to delivery B787 parts to Boeing plant.
