Lufthansa Cargo assime a Cargolux ed altre compagnie leader del trasporto aereo cargo, aderiscono all’iniziativa Unicef, per garantire un equa distribuzione di vaccini in tutto il mondo.

Lo scopo è garantire l’accesso ai vaccini a tutti gli stati indipendentemente dal livello direddito:

UNICEF Humanitarian Airfreight Initiative

Il progetto è stato avviato dopo che il trasporto aereo, da Marzo 2020, è diventato il fulcro della distribuzione di dispositivi di protezione individuale e medicinali necessari per affrontare la pandemia.

L’iniziativa è a supporto del COVAX, il programma istituito dall’OMS per ottimizzare e convogliare tutti gli sforzi nel modo migliore per fronteggiare l’attuale pandemia.

UNICEF and leading airlines join forces to deliver COVID-19 vaccines and medical supplies around the world.

The Humanitarian Airfreight Initiative has been formed with leading airlines to secure the transport of vaccines, and other life-saving supplies worldwide. 

These airlines have signed agreements with UNICEF to support the prioritization of delivery of COVID-19 vaccines, essential medicines, medical devices and other critical supplies to respond to the pandemic.

To reach participating countries swiftly and securely, airlines increased their freight capacity to routes where needed. 

The initiative supports the COVAX Facility, a global solution to the COVID-19 pandemic that ensures participating countries have fair access to vaccines, regardless of their income level.
