The last ever B747 built was delivered by Boeing

It’s an end of an era: the last B747 produced has left Boeing factory at Everett on the way to its final customer: Atlas Air.

The giant of the skies that has become an icon on air transport and made generations of people dream left the Boeing factory at Everett for the last time, it was a B-748F cargo version, registration N863GT line number 1574.

Designed by Joe Sutter, more than 50 years after its first flight, Boeing has decided to stop producing the aircraft named “Queen of the Skies”.

In order to celebrate the aircraft, the delivery flight with callsign GTI747 painted in the sky this figure: 747 with the crown of the queen.

Due to its size, range and effectiveness, the B747 allowed the middle class to venture out of Europe or the United States with ticket prices becoming more affordable. Today the passenger version of the B747 is used by Korean Air, Lufthansa and Air China. There are many Cargo Companies that operate the cargo version.

The B747 will still continue to be in service for the holders of the White House for more years, with the famous title of ”Air Force One”.
